Replacing a broken automatic door panel often involves more than just removing the damaged glass and fitting a new piece. On a recent job, JMC Glass & Glazing had to replace a 15mm toughened frameless automatic door panel positioned above ceiling height, without cutting into the finished ceiling or relying on manual lifting.
The team first made the building safe and installed a temporary boarded solution before returning to complete the permanent replacement. That second visit brought the more difficult part of the job: getting the new glass into position within the existing finished interior.
A Winlet 400TL glazing robot provided the lifting support. Rather than having the team manually handle the panel above ceiling level, the team used the Winlet to raise and position the glass mechanically, with controlled micro movement for the final alignment. That was particularly important on this job because disturbing the ceiling would have created additional work and potential damage to the surrounding finishes.
The Winlet 400TL has a maximum lifting capacity of 415kg, a lift height of 3,635mm and up to 1,950mm of extension from the front bumper to the suction cups. Its 360° rotation and fine lift adjustment gave the JMC team the movement needed to bring the replacement panel into the opening and make the final adjustments accurately.
That allowed the installation to progress without unnecessary disturbance to the surrounding finishes, keeping remedial work around the entrance to a minimum.
