Hird Training Supports Tate Liverpool with Vacuum Robot Training

Major refurbishment projects rely on the right mix of specialist equipment, skilled operators and high-quality training.

That is exactly what is happening at Tate Liverpool, Hird Training team put together a comprehensive hands-on practical training session to help workers on the extensive Tate Liverpool redevelopment, improve safety and productivity when removing and replacing glass panels throughout the building where an extensive redevelopment project is under way and Hird’s Winlet vacuum robots are helping remove existing glazing ahead of new glass installation throughout the building.

Gavin Rymer, Training Manager at Hird Training, said:

“It was a productive day delivering training at Tate Liverpool, Hird’s Winlet vacuum robots are playing a key role in the transformation of the exhibition space, efficiently removing existing glazing in preparation for the installation of new glass throughout the building. It’s great to see innovative Winlet Glazing Robots supporting such a significant refurbishment project.”

Why Vacuum Robot Training matters

On major glazing and refurbishment projects, the equipment is only part of the story. Operators also need the knowledge and confidence to use it safely, effectively and in line with site requirements. That is why Vacuum Robot Training is so important, especially on projects involving specialist lifting operations and glass handling.

Hird’s LEEA-approved Vacuum Robot Training course is designed to cover both the theory and practical challenges involved in operating the equipment safely and effectively. The one-day course includes controls, pre-use operational checks, weight assessment, signalling techniques, and the operation of the vacuum robot unloaded and loaded, giving operators a solid understanding of both safe procedure and practical application on site. Combined with wider lifting and operator safety guidance, it provides valuable preparation for real-world vacuum robot use.

Nationwide training tailored to site requirements

Hird Training delivers courses across the UK, with dedicated depots in Hull, Doncaster and Redhill, Surrey, helping customers access the support they need wherever they are based.
