Powered access technology from Oil&Steel will be a strong feature on the Hird Sales stand at ScotPlant later this month.
Hird Sales will have an impressive array of powered access, lifting and materials moving machines on display at Scotland’s premier construction equipment expo on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th April 2024.
The company’s team of friendly and knowledgeable technical sales specialists will also be on hand at the Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh, led by Sales and After-Sales Manager Carl Cooper.

Oil&Steel truck-mounted booms
Hird Sales will have four Oil&Steel access platforms on its stand, including two truck-mounts – a Scorpion 2013 and a Snake 2010H Plus.
The Oil&Steel Scorpion 2013 has a telescopic boom with a maximum working height of 19.9m and a maximum outreach of 12.5m, with particularly fasts set-up a stow functions, boosting productivity.
It has an impressive maximum capacity of 250kg at a maximum working height of 19.5m. Based on a 3.5t IVECO chassis, it can be operated on a car licence, making it popular with access hire specialists.
The Oil&Steel Snake 2010H Plus has an articulating boom with a maximum height of 20m, a maximum outreach of 10.2m, and capacity of 225kg. Its compact outrigger footprint makes it ideal for working in confined spaces.
The Hird Sales team will have a pre-registered Oil&Steel Snake 2010H Plus truck-mounted boom ready to drive away should a visitor be so smitten that they want to buy one on the spot!
Oil&Steel tracked spider booms
The Hird Sales team will also be showing off two Oil&Steel tracked spider booms – the Oil&Steel OctoPlus 17 and the Oil&Steel OctoPlus 21.
The Oil&Steel OctoPlus 17 has a maximum working height of 17m and an extended maximum outreach of 7.6m. Practical functions, including load and unload drive and a maximum stabilised height of 625mm, make working at height in all conditions safer and more productive.
The Oil&Steel OctoPlus 21 is a next generation spider platform with a maximum working height of 20.7m and an outreach of 10.6m. Just 785mm wide in tracking mode, it is ideal for working in confined spaces.
The spider boom operates brilliantly across low loadbearing
ground and sensitive floors. Power options are: low emission petrol or diesel engines; bi-energy petrol or diesel engines plus a 73.6v mains electric motor; or lithium battery all-electric power.
Winlet glazing robots and trolleys
Hird Sales will also be showcasing two impressive Winlet machines at ScotPlant – the Winlet 400TL glazing robot and the Winlet ErgoMover Wireless electric materials trolley.
The Winlet 400TL glazing robot has a maximum capacity of 415kg and the ability to lift loads over 3.5m directly overhead. It allows glass to be installed more safely and more productively in highly constrained space with small operational teams.
The Winlet ErgoMover Wireless is a wireless remotely controlled flatbed battery electric materials trolley with a maximum capacity of 1500kg. It can be supplied with a fixed bed or a rotating bed for precise positioning of loads.
Hird Sales has just delivered 45 of the materials trolleys to Dogger Bank Windfarm Operations in South Shields to transport materials and equipment to and from the world’s largest offshore wind farm being developed in the North Sea.
Valla Cranes and Locatelli Cranes
The Hird Sales team will also be ready to talk about other machines in the portfolio, notably Valla pick and carry cranes. They include Valla’s growing range of World Class electric ‘V cranes’, which provide marketing-leading performance and compactness.
Hird is also the UK and Ireland distributor for Locatelli truck-mounted cranes and rough terrain cranes, Righetti vacuum lifters, including vacuum cladding lifters, and 3B6 load monitoring systems.
